I have been retouching and manipulating photographs commercially since 2000, using the industry standard software package Photoshop. I aim to use this (and other packages where appropriate) in a creative, yet precise, approach to delivering a quality solution to your retouching requirements.

I have accomplished skills in most areas of retouching, my background is mostly in fashion retouching, but I also have extensive knowledge of product retouching, advertising and similar. Please take a look through my retouching portfolio to view a selection of before and after samples from my extensive portfolio of work.
In addition to the commercial retouching that I am undertaking for several clients, I have also developed several websites for photographers and businesses as well as persuing my own interests in illustration.
I am available for work on-site throughout the Greater London area, or using my own fully equipped premises and transferring files over the internet.

My Background

Having studied photography at art college in the early to mid 90’s, I was always interested in photomontage and the way that early pioneers had combined the photographic image with other mediums such as painting and graphic design, using a process of physically montaging elements and re-photographing, or using darkroom effects. I was interested in using some similar techniques, some of which can be seen here.

Although still at an early stage of development, I started experimenting with Adobe Photoshop (version 2!) as the potential to digitally create montages and photographic manipulations were obvious and with the added bonus of not having the waste and experimental error attached to it. I have always been interested in mixed media and was really blown away by the pioneering audio visual work done by a lot of artists involved in the rave and dance music scene, particularly the ‘Lifeforms’ collaboration between FSOL and Buggy Riphead, which really was revolutionary in terms of cutting edge graphics technology.

As the years have passed, Photoshop has become increasingly accessible and digital photographic capture has become the norm for most commercial photographic studios and most commercial shoots are expected to have some level of post-production manipulation. Although Photoshop is accessible to the point of allowing most amateur users to retouch to a reasonable level, my experience allows me to quickly decide which method would be most suitable, and to execute those techniques quickly and effectively, allowing you, the client, to concentrate on the other aspects of your business.
